Hi, my name is Glenn Mortimore and I am based in Coalville, Leicestershire. I am a time served mechanical engineer starting as an apprentice when I left school 40 years ago.
I have held many positions within my career, beginning as a machinist and progressing through the ranks to project engineer looking after large accounts for North Sea oil and gas projects.
I have always been a ‘hands on person’ so friends and family have always come to me when they have needed help doing jobs around the house. At my previous company I was the person who had the job of looking after the maintenance of the buildings, dealing with everything from fixing toilets to arranging new floors. I have always enjoyed Do-It-Yourself and have attended part-time courses in various DIY skills such as brick-laying, just for interest.
My family are very important to me, I am married with one daughter who has been severely disabled since birth. This had led to numerous alterations to the family home to accommodate her needs. Where possible I have undertaken these works myself as we do not always want a ‘council look’ for our property. After all, it is our home as well.
I love camping trips, walking my dog and football but my main hobby has always been fishing. You can’t beat the peace and quiet of sitting beside a lake!
After years of good comments about my DIY skills from friends and family, and recently helping to do a full renovation of a property, I have decided to take the plunge and set up my own handyman business. It’s time to finally do something that I really enjoy.
